Priority groups include (1) essential workers, including but not limited to healthcare workers (utilitarian principles); (2) high-risk individuals such as those at the highest risk of severe/fatal outcomes (egalitarian principles); (3) individuals who play a key role in transmission (both utilitarian and egalitarian principles)
"Mathematical modeling is urgently needed to assess both the health and economic impacts of potential vaccination strategies, and the potential to reduce for herd immunity benefits. "-------- It would be great if government expenditure on vaccine procurement is been considered as well.
Answer: yes, it contains some data (but no result) regarding the vaccination of children. In this article, the author mentioned that in China mainland, the estimated size of target population without underlying conditions, is 190.2 million of school-age children, and 98.7 million of younger children ≤ 5 years old, and they are categorized as the third tier (the least important one among all 3 tiers), of which the goal is to reduce illness as well as the transmission. We do not have 'results' in this article cause it mainly focus on helping the policymakers to design a vaccination program to reach 70% population, which means they cannot foresee the possible result on children nor on opening school. Plus, the number above obtained, did not take the eligibility of vaccines into account, the lack of efficacy/safety might affect the children, which means that the estimated number would be even smaller.
